HONOR ROLL
Many schools around the country are no longer publishing Honor Rolls. The reason, you may ask. It is because those that did not make the Honor Roll may be traumatized by not seeing their name on it. Therefore the achiever can not be recognized.
None of the people making these
idiotic touchy feely rules have any awareness of the way the real world works.
They likely are all losers themselves.
These people do nothing to stop an
academic dunce that may be a star football player being recognized and honored
for his performance. They see no relationship between the two things.
Some of the things that should be
done if their "logic" is carried throughout the real world: *If a widget factory
must put out 100 widgets per widget builder per day to break even before a
profit is made it would be OK with these administrators and teachers if someone
only put out ten. Or any number less than 100.
Are they really too stupid to realize
the factory would soon be out of business and all their untraumatized students
would be unemployed and their families would be on the street.
*Football fields should have no goal
posts.
*Scores should not be kept in human
endeavor.
*Driving tests should be a thing of
the past.
*Your pilot could be anyone that felt
like flying your plane.
*Someone that only trained on Tinker
Toys could build the bridge for you to drive over.
There answer to things like that is,
"Oh, that's different." Really. How? It is how they are training our kids. They
want everyone to be brought down to their own level of incompetence.
The Heidelberg American High School,
Heidelberg, Germany Class of 1953 had a lovely young lady named Nancy
Dreibelbies. Nancy was Valedictorian. She was a great student, incredibly nice,
pleasant and clearly the smartest one of us. It is possible she had close
competition with a lady named Sylta Rasche.
Nancy and Sylta could not have been
nicer even as smart as they were. Nancy never said anything about her
intelligence. Occasionally when riding the bus home to Sonnenberg with Sylta she
would make a funny comment about her intelligence. She knew she was smart but
she never held it over us. She just considered it a fact of life and thought it
was funny. She was never self deprecating but she could make very funny comments
about it.
How did the rest of us feel about
their intelligence. The sun came up every morning, it snowed in the winter and
Nancy and Sylta were smarter than we were. Those were just facts and were the
way the world was.
It is possible some of the class was
traumatized by something but it certainly was not because of not seeing their
names on the Honor Roll.
Some might say Sylta was smarter
because she married a multi billionaire and lives in Switzerland. Nancy married
Dr. Carl Reiley, raised four or five wonderful kids, became a nurse and lives in
Carmel, California.
Nancy would disagree with anyone
thinking Sylta was smarter than her because of the billionaire. I do not believe
she would say that out loud. Nancy would just wish Sylta well and continue to
know that, for her, she made the best deal with
Carl. Carl was a Doctor in Nam. I don't know if he was career Army.
Come to think of it, I wonder if
their superior intelligence gave me an unconscious trauma to the extent that it
caused me to go blind thirty one years later. Maybe I can get unreasonable
compensation from both of them. Especially Sylta. Anyone know Melvin Belli's
phone number?
